Raynaud's Disease- Homeopathy scope
Numbness of extremities such as fingers and toe tips due to reduced blood circulation because of cold is called Raynaud’s disease. Its occurance is more in females as compare to males. It leads to discoloration of fingers and toe. Due to change in weather sp nov-dec or with the cold exposure fingers become numb, cold and blue because of decrease oxygen supply.
Classification of Raynaud’s
Raynaud’s can be classified to primary and secondary.
In primary raynaud’s, there is no underlying medical condition that triggers the vasospasm. Primary raynaud’s is termed as raynaud’s disease.
Secondary raynaud’s, Disease is due to some other medical condition which is lying beneath which causes the vasospasm. Secondary raynaud’s which is also termed as raynaud’s phenomenon and is a serious ailment as compare to primary one. The causes include connective tissue disorders, lupus, frostbite, atherosclerosis, injuries to hand/feet and smoking, Buerger’s disease, scleroderma.
People suffering from Raynaud's disease should keep themself warm by wearing gloves and socks. They should stay away from cooled places like Air-conditioner exposure and touching cold icy things. Patients are advised not to use, caffeinated food, smoking as it is known to trigger or worsen the disease.. Patients should also avoide emotional stress.
It depends on the extent of the disease. In mild to moderate cases heat bands and hand warmers are used on the wrists blood vessels .In extreme cases medicines are used to dilate blood vessels or antidepressant medicines to prevent frequency and severity of disease. Biofeedback is also used to control the involuntary functions of our body such as temperature regulation in the extremities.
